I spoke to a kind gentleman recently who told me I was pricing my work too cheaply, and it may be a reason people aren't commissioning me. Regardless, I do think my talent as an artist is quite incredible at times. I can draw nearly anything given enough time to practice. That being said I am now going to start charging per hour plus the cost of materials used. I'm using a graphics tablet that is creeping up on 10 years old believe it or not! It'll work as long as it wants to, and I know I'll need to start considering buying a new one in the coming year or so. That said, new prices will be to compensate me for the time I put into each piece, skill, and going towards covering the cost of a new graphics tablet of the same price range (roughly 250$).

Head Bust

A head-view only art piece of your character. Estimated time to complete on average; 2-4 hours. Depending on complexity.

Full Body

A full view of the entire body of your character. This normally shows complete detail which helps paint a picture to the personality of the character. Estimated time to complete on average; 3-6 hours. Depending on complexity.

Payment Options

I accept payment through PayPal only at this time, as it's the safest way for me to handle transactions and track them. I charge in Canadian Currency, being my country of residence is Canada.

Hourly Rate + Material Fee

My hourly rate for art commissions is 15$/hr. A 5$ material usage fee will be added to the completed cost.

Work Deposits

A 50% deposit may be accepted if you cannot pay the full amount up front. This is for trusted clients only.

Flat Fee Pricing

If you'd rather pay a flat fee all at once for your commission, you can however I'd have to estimate the cost depending on the number of hours it should take me to complete your commission.

Head Shot Flat Fee (Estimated 2-4 hours of work) - 30$ to 60$

Full Body Flat Fee (Estimated 3-6 hours of work) - 45$ to 90$ +5$ Material Fee on final pricing

Interested? Send me a note with minimum 1 reference image of you character, and the type of commission you'd like. Thank you.

Tutor Services

3 min read

Greetings everyone,

This will be slightly off-topic to my recent posts and work, however my sister ran something by me earlier and I thought I'd actually try it. I know this coming school season is going to be very hard for some as the threat of Covid still lingers. So some may be looking for alternative options to help them get a bit of aid with their work.

If anyone in High School, or even College that would like to seek extra tutoring aid, I am willing to do that for a few people at a time.

While I don't possess a degree/masters/etc I am a High School graduate and took a College course for Horticulture Studies back in 2014/2015 with a wide knowledge in that area.

My knowledge base includes: Animals (behavior, care, species information, etc), Plants (care, species infotmation, etc), Computer information (how to use Microsoft OS 7 and 10, basic use of Tech including setup settings, troubleshooting hardware and some software, and other program help. Over 20 years experience with art/drawing in a few different mediums such as painting, sketching, digital art, pastels, even photo manipulation online (photoshop/pixlr) - I can teach someone art skills they can apply to their own style and help them improve in areas they need help with. History, especially that of Canadian history as it's my current resident country and I can certainly aid in finding information about pretty much any place on Earth. Knowledgeable in Music, including information on certain bands (mostly Rock but I know a variety of singers/bands so it's easy to find their information). Biology is a favorite topic for me and I'm really into all aspects of it, especially genetic studies in plants/animals so feel free to ask about that.

About animal care; I have kept a wide variety of animals as pets in my life so I know quite a bit about them and their care. All the animals I've kept; Fish, Rats, Mice, Cats, Dogs, Rabbits, Birds (Canary/Budgie/Love Birds), Ball Pythons, Leopard Geckos, Bearded Dragon, Tarantulas, and Crickets/Mealworms as feeders.

I am also knowledgeable in Spiritual subjects and a small amount of Religious information if someone is looking to get started in that area, it's a controversial one but it's definitely worth diving into.

I'm aware that I may not be qualified to be a tutor however I can still use my knowledge to help someone who needs it. I will NEVER ask for anyone's personal information or payment for doing this, I really just want to help those who are seeking it.

I am available through Discord for doing the tutor sessions and those who are interested can send me messages whenever they need to about something with their studies and I will do my best to help with it.

If you are someone who is interested in tutor services from myself, please send me a Note and I will send my Discord user ID. Thank you very much, I look forward to hearing from those interested. Edit: I have a working headset/microphone for those who wish to voice call over Discord while receiving help. If you'd like this option of course I ask that you have your own working headset for this. This is optional, if you'd prefer text-only then that's perfectly fine!

We're Back!

1 min read

Greetings everyone,

Just posting this follow-up to my last journal entry. I have my new PC all hooked up with the equipment I needed, and everything is installed for making art. That said, please keep an eye out for my new commission sheet which will be posted in the coming days.

Thank you for your patience!

Hello everyone,

This is just an announcement that I will temporarily be unable to do any sort of digital artwork of any kind - this includes commissions. The reason being is I purchased a new PC and am currently waiting for it to arrive. I still need to purchase a suitable monitor, mouse, and new speaker system. I'm still using the old PC right now, and it functions decently, however once I switch to the new PC some of my old programs may no longer be compatible, which means digital art may have to wait. I won't be 100% certain of the time-frame until I get the PC running and seeing what I can install. I can technically still use this old PC to create digital art, and I will if the task presented itself. This is more for the new PC, as it'll take me a little bit of time to get the remaining equipment for it. Once completed and tested, I will make a follow-up announcement letting people know what's going on.

With this new PC, I may even dive into a completely different area of the online world. I'd love to do some kind of commentary stuff, which I will need editing software and a decent microphone to record with. The possibilities are endless, who knows what I'll do.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Recently a user on here responded to one of my comments on a DeviantART news journal summing up art as being a "waste of money", and should be priced dirt cheap for the "poor people" to afford. I just want to point out something the Joker said from The Dark Knight; "If you're good at something, never do it for free."

That statement has never been more true for the art community. Whether it be professionals, or those with a raw talent. I want to actually show them, and everyone who sees this what I actually earned from my art in the last few years, and some measures I tried to help get people more interested in my work.

1. In 2016 I took the entire year off from any kind of commissions so I could improve my skills in digital artwork as much as possible. It was a hard year, and I remember shading being one of the areas I needed to improve, as well as drawing fur.

2. Over the years I have constantly offered discounts, deals, and packages for bulk commissions. I even tried producing adoptable characters the last few months to sell. The original 3 I started with; Deepwater Kelpie, Mantis Seadragon, and Leviathan Hell Raptor, took me 10-12 hours each to finish from sketch to completion. I felt people would never pay more than 30$ for them, despite the time I put into their creation. To put it into perspective, I live in Canada and our minimum wage is currently 14$/hr. Take the 12 hours from 1 piece and divide the 30$ price tag by it to find the hourly rate. It's only 2.50$/hr that I am asking for. If I asked the full 14$/hr for that artwork it would have a price of 168$. Absolutely no way in hell anyone will pay that kind of money for a character - see my point now? People just don't want to shell out any money for art because they don't view it as a "necessity". Even my commission prices are hilariously low to what I personally think I could be making if I was honest about it. For full body work I'd be charging 50-60$ easily, which is still only 4.16$ to 5$/h worth of work on a 12-hour piece. Headshots are even less, I'd be happy to charge 40$ for one of those, but they don't take me nearly as long which is good. If I were to rush through my work, I *might* be able to pull off a full body digital piece in 4-6 hours, but I don't like rushing because I forget little details, or it looks sloppy.

3. For anyone who wants to know, my last paid commission was in 2018 for a character I sold. I was paid 10$ on top of a 3$ bid to make a full body digital piece of the character for them - as it didn't have one yet.

2018 commission piece here:

4. No, it's not about the money, never was. In my opinion, receiving money for your own creation is more a compliment and a supportive nudge to keep going and produce more work, and get better at doing it. When someone wants to buy your work, it makes you feel good, and hopeful that more people will want to as well. I have offered free art MANY times over the years. I started making free line art bases for people to download and have fun with. Are they beautiful or perfect? Probably not, but I offer them up so anyone who wants one can have one and make their own design from it.

In my Etsy shop I currently have 2 line art listings in there. One of which is a pack of 5 line art base files that I'm only asking 3$ per download. The other is a custom Archdragon I designed for 2$. I put them there for anyone who wants a copy, and wants to support me as well. If someone asked me nicely to create a free line art base for them, I probably would say yes. I don't expect any money, I just have the option available for those who do want to support me as an artist. The same goes for every other artist accepting commissions. I'm sure there are artists who just love the money, which is fine, if they have the talent to back it all up then more power to them. People just get the wrong idea about us, and think art should be "free" or "not cost so much".

Know what costs more that we cannot get back? Time. This is why we charge "so much". Our time is valuable, as is our creations. Please do not insult any artist trying to earn an income off their work, it's hard being an artist at times, especially when you know you need some improvement - and that's ok! Keep practicing, and shaping your unique style and when you feel ready, offer your services to the community and see what happens.

I hope this helps some people understand. This is just my own personal point of view as an artist over the years, and I know everyone's story is different. Thank you for reading, have a great day everyone and stay safe.
